July 16, 2020 at 8:39 PM in reply to: Doubt in God's existence

Thank you Saviour for the question. As I mentioned in the comment section earlier, you are not alone in having doubts. Many before you and many today have their doubts, even John the baptist, the one Jesus described as greater than all, had doubts from a prison cell and sent his disciples to ask Jesus if He is truly the Messiah. Note Jesus described him as the greatest after his doubts crept in. So don’t be too hard on yourself.

Now here’s the thing, when we look at our circumstances to validate God’s existence and love for us we will constantly doubt God’s existence, especially since God uses our trials to build our faith and reveal His glory.

    1 Peter 1:7
These trials have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Each time you go through trials, you have to draw from the faith you
have gained from previous trials and draw closer to God. When John the baptist asked Jesus if He was truly the Messiah, Jesus patiently answered Him — He will show up for you.

God only wants good things for His children. He created us to share in His most beautiful creation and be caretakers of it. That’s how special we are to Him. The devil derailed that when he successfully tempted us, He did it again to Job… but he failed to tempt Jesus who has now reconciled us back to the Father. You are very precious to God. The devil still uses many men and throws many darts to make our lives difficult. Trust that God will only allow the ones we can bear and will always come through for His children.

Draw closer to God, read the bible, pray in the spirit more, and seek God earnestly in truth and in Spirit, He will show up even if it is to send a good Samaritan your way.

You can message your WhatsApp number to me and the @faithflows team so we can follow up. God Bless you.
    ps.
I hope we get many more answers here that will pick you up and strengthen your faith in God.

So, today we ask for healing for our friend Ongenchi Okioma, Father. Please surround him with your love and comfort even as you heal him In Jesus name we pray with thanksgiving, Amen.

May 13, 2020 at 2:59 PM in reply to: Tithing in exchange for blessings

Tithing is quite controversial in some Christian circles, some believers reference the lack of tithing in the new testament as a reason not to tithe. I think the purpose of tithing remains in the church today. Tithes are still needed so there is enough provision in God’s house to feed, shelter, clothe anyone who needs it. So, let’s not debate whether to give or not, but strive to give even more than 10% to organizations that do more for the community and for God’s people. The new testament has a lot of verses about the blessings we get when we give, –e.g. Luke 6:38, Luke 21-1:4

As for exchanging tithes and seeds etc for blessings, we all have access to all the blessings if we love God
and keep His commandments and love our neighbors as ourselves— God blesses us when we are kind…but not in a business transaction kind of way, more like a parent who rewards a loving child.

So let’s give as much as possible to responsible churches and pray that more churches do more for the community with the tithes and be transparent —so this debate can be put to rest.

April 14, 2020 at 12:20 PM in reply to: My Husband doesn't want to help!

My advice to her is to be patient, pray, and share how overwhelmed she is with hubby–in a nice way .

The lockdown is impacting us all in various ways. Hubby’s behavior has been developed over time and cannot change like a light switch. There are many husbands who work and help out at home daily. Your friend’s likely did not– hence it can’t change instantly especially when the pressure of lockdown is added.

A suggestion, she should plan the day out with hubby, if possible, and try to get him to assign the tasks, hence assigning some to himself…. and get the kids involved also.

Ps- not a therapist, just a friendly opinion 🙂

I agree, it’s not one or the other, it’s all the above and more. The reasons we give to the church and the needy remain today. Although the new testament doesn’t mention tithing because there are no appointed Levites (the only ones who were authorized to collect tithes in the old testament), we must continue to give to the church, so there is enough in the storehouse. Regardless of which side of the aisle you stand, you must give to the church and give to the needy. I generally say give above the 10% and it will come back to you a million fold.

Having said that, the church administration must manage funds wisely and be transparent in their use of funds to ensure the that members continue to give to God’s work.
