We need to be clear on this point.

TEMPTATION IS NOT SIN. Satan likes to condemn Christians even when they have not sinned. He likes to make them feel guilty for having been tempted by some sin, but it is not a sin to be tempted.

To overcome temptation, you must do four things:

1: count on your death with Christ. We passed out of the kingdom of darkness. We are no longer under the authority of sin. God put us in Christ on the cross. When Christ died, we died with Him; when He was buried, we were buried with Him; when He rose again, we rose again with Him. The Bible says,

Giving thanks to the Father who has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” Colossians 1:12-13

Reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:11

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.” Romans 6:12

2..Count on the life of Christ in you. each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.” James 1:14

We have within us something which is always trying to pull us down into sin. The Bible calls it “the law of sin which is in our members.

The law of Christ’s life is to overcome sin. His life always triumphs over sin. And His life in us overcomes the law of sin and death.

    The Bible says,

“The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2

    3. Arm yourself with the word of God. God has given us another weapon to use against Satan. This weapon is the word of God. The bible says

“Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” Ephesians 6:17

When the Lord Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He used this weapon to defeat Satan. Three times Satan tempted the Lord Jesus, and three times Jesus answered him with the Word of God.
