Speaking from experience, being raised by a single parent is economically and emotionally stressful for the parent who takes responsibility and equally hard for the children involved. The ideal thing is for both parents to be around but if it is not so both should try and be in the children’s life as much as possible and be supportive of their partner who stays with the kids.
